Ponca Hills is a blend of agriculture and family homes.  Ponca Elementary School is a great school located in the heart of the hills.  Housing K-5th they will make you feel like family.

We have a modern, up-to-date Volunteer Fire Department.  These are the neighbors you know and can count on.  They sponsor several fundraisers throughout the year including a dance, a bar-b-que festival and a pancake feed.  Watch the Events page for dates.

Located within 1-15 minutes is Eppley Airfield, Immanuel Hospital, a Post Office, Metro Community College, two grocery stores, two drug stores, a theatre, and Sorensen Plaza featuring Target, Dress Barn, Linens N Things, Office Max, and other stores and restaurants.

St. John's Lutheran Church is a quaint country church located within the hills.  There are also two Parochial schools, two Catholic Churches and a Presbyterian Church in the area.

On the east side of the hills we have three parks:  Hummel Park, where you can enjoy a picnic or hike the trails;  Neal Woods has trails and a nature center and also holds their famous dark sky classes during the year; and Dodge Park has baseball, tennis, picnic tables, and river access for boating.

There is a lot of history in this area.  The Nebraska State Historical Society has identified the property at 4014 North Post Road as the "Central Plains Village, Nebraska Phase  (A.D. 900-1450)."  Because the hills are made up of the Loess soil it is fragile.  To protect the area, the Northern Hills Overlay was created by the City advising what is or is not acceptable use of the land.

Turkey and deer are frequently seen crossing roads.  During nice weather you may see folks enjoying the day on horseback or cows grazing in the field.

While autumn is a colorful panorama, it's the peacefulness of a winter day dressed all in white that prepares the soul for the year ahead.

If you want to see brilliant stars, plant a garden and be within minutes of all that Omaha has to offer, you'll enjoy life in Ponca Hills.  It is a "wild" life and we love it!
